For those who'd like to contribute, we're still receiving donations for local Afghan refugees in Waynesboro. You can bring the following items by the church this week or this Sunday.
Coats and warm clothing. There are 18 children ages 6 months to 16 years old. All sizes of coats and sweaters would be helpful.
Simple toys like blocks, cars, dolls, playing cards (no small pieces please) and educational workbooks.
Gift cards for Walmart or Visa
Additional opportunities to serve the refugees in conjunction with International Rescue Committee are available. Volunteers will need to provide proof of vaccination and pass a basic background check. Volunteers are needed to help with things like:
Driving refugees to and from the grocery store
Helping with ESL (English As Second Language)
Helping to identify job opportunities
Helping to find long-term housing
If you're interested in learning more about serving in these ways, please contact development coordinator Diana Connolly at Diana.Connolly@rescue.org
Apologist Sam Raju Coming to Greenmonte
Do you feel increasingly estranged from our culture and wonder how to better connect and minister to those with a different worldview? Join us for two thought-provoking sessions as apologist Sam Raju explores issues raised by a post-Christian culture. The events are free and childcare is provided. Please invite your friends!
Saturday, November 20th, 6:30-8:30 PM "Engaging a Post-Christian Culture"
Sunday, November 21st, 10 AM (Morning Worship Service) "Why Suffering?"
Both events are at Greenmonte Fellowship Church, 1661 Cold Springs Road, Stuarts Draft.
Sam Raju is the Founder and President of Engage International, whose mission is to undergird evangelism with apologetics and to disciple and equip the church to influence culture. Sam holds a Master’s in Psychology with Highest Honors from Mahatma Gandhi University and a Master’s in Philosophy with Honors at Biola University. He served as an Itinerant Speaker with RZIM for several years before founding Engage International.
Bless Our Ministries
In this season of thankfulness, we'd like to show appreciation to the mission-minded partners who are ministering globally and locally on Greenmonte's behalf. We love our ministry partners! Let's bless them with care packages (overseas) and gift baskets (local). Please view our listing of needed items and sign up for a few. (The Perfect Potluck passwords is greenmonte.) Then bring them to church on Sunday, November 14th to compile all the goodies. Thanks for being a blessing!
If you have questions, contact Natalie Pittman or Liza Peltola.
