Exodus Part 13: Not Without You, Lord

While Moses was on Mount Sinai, the Israelites grew impatient and made a golden calf. Instead of trusting God, they incorporated their culture into their worship of God, replacing faithful obedience with something familiar and comfortable.

Although God judged their sin, He also extended mercy. He even offered to send them into the Promised Land with His blessing—but without His presence. Moses refused, declaring, "If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here." God makes that same offer of blessing every day to us: success, comfort, and good things apart from His presence. The question is, will we settle for the blessing, or will we choose God Himself?

Moses teaches us to desire God's presence above everything else. Do we accept His presence during our suffering, or do we only want His gifts? God's presence is what sets His people apart, and there is marked evidence when we are in God's presence—our lives are changed, just as Moses' face reflected God's glory.
