Truth in Love
Paul warns Titus about people who were spreading false teaching and misleading others with ideas that were contrary to the truth of the gospel. Their words were causing confusion and upsetting entire households.
We live in a world where misinformation about the gospel is still being shared. When we encounter misinformation, we need to know the truth—and God’s Word is truth. We cannot afford to build our understanding of the gospel by pulling individual verses out of context or using Scripture to support what we already want to believe. Doing so can cause us to miss the message of the gospel as a whole.
Knowing the truth also comes with a responsibility: we are called to speak the truth in love and grace. Titus reminds us that truth matters, but so does how we communicate it. Our goal should not simply be to prove someone wrong, but to faithfully represent Christ, protect others from false teaching, and point people back to the truth of the gospel.
