Exodus Part 1: God In The Waiting
Exodus 1:1–7 begins with a list of names—the sons of Israel who came to Egypt with Jacob. It reminds us that God knows His people personally; He is not distant, but a God who sees, names, and cares for individuals, even broken ones. Though Joseph’s generation passes away, God’s people continue to grow and multiply, showing that His promises are still at work, even in seasons that feel quiet or unnoticed.
This passage invites us to reflect: when we think of God, what do we picture? The way we imagine Him shapes how we live. It’s easy to create a version of God in our own image, but the real God reveals Himself as faithful, present, and committed to His people through covenant—not a fragile contract. Unlike false gods that depend on our performance, the true God remains faithful even when we fall short.
Even here, in what feels like a simple introduction, God is already working in the background—moving in the silence, preparing for deliverance. The same God who will raise up a deliverer for Israel is still rescuing people today. Through His covenant love, He steps in where we cannot fulfill our part, leading us out of our own “Egypts” and into freedom.
