The Lord's Prayer: And Forgive Us Our Debts

In Matthew 6:12 -13, Jesus teaches us to pray for forgiveness — both to receive it and to extend it to others. Forgiveness is at the heart of the prayer God has taught us to pray. It reminds us that just as we ask God to pardon our sins, we must also forgive those who have wronged us. Forgiveness is one of the hardest commandments to live out, yet it reflects God’s mercy and keeps our hearts free from bitterness. Jesus also teaches us to pray for protection from temptation and deliverance from evil, showing our dependence on God’s strength and grace each day.
