SPRING 2017 WEDNESDAY SMALL GROUPS

Sign up today.  Semester begins Sunday, February 19th

guardrails small group

Description: Guardrails-- they don't really get much attention... until somebody hits one. And then, more often than not, they are a lifesaver. Ever wonder what it would be like to have guardrails in other areas of your life — areas where culture baits you to the edge of disaster and then chastises you when you step across the line? Your friendships. Your finances. Your marriage. Maybe your greatest regret could have been avoided if you had established guardrails.
In this six-session video-based small group bible study, Andy Stanley challenges us to stop flirting with disaster and establish some personal guardrails. We are aiming to make this friendly to both teens and adults. After the six-week course is completed, we would like to be in prayer as a group about how to continue the study/discussion, either by probing more into scripture or choosing a second book, such as The Five Love Languages of Teens or another applicable study.

grounded: a 13-week chronological bible study

Description: Tackling a book as giant as the Bible can be very daunting-- knowing where to start, how much to read, how to interpret content can be overwhelming enough to never even begin the journey. There have been many times I have sat in front of my Bible totally overwhelmed by its sheer size, intense content, ancient analogies and difficult-to-understand stories. Not to mention the small letters, long paragraphs, narrow columns and seemingly random content have long prevented me from exploring its pages in depth.
However, I have learned that those pages are filled with treasures. God Himself, the creator of the universe, preserved these very words for us. He has spoken; He has communicated; He has revealed His very nature and character to us through His Word. Yes, it is big; yes, it can be daunting; yes, it can be hard at times, but the riches far outweigh any difficulty therein.

During this 13-week small group we will be reading through the Bible chronologically together. Let us help each other dig deep, for the treasures of heaven are grand! In general, one should expect to spend 45 minutes a day reading. While this may seem overwhelming at first, consider the eternal impact; the small investment should pale in comparison. The pace is slow enough to be manageable, yet fast enough to easily see the major themes that run from the very beginning of Creation straight through the book as a whole. Instead of studying the details of the tapestry, step back for 13 weeks and enjoy seeing the whole work. One must see the whole work in order to understand its details more thoroughly.
